Vines & Canines

Vines and canines is a wonderful event happening this weekend October 16 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. Vines and Canines was proud to announce the launching of Their Original Fine-Wine Tasting and Canine Celebration Event. It will feature 15 select wines, Live Jazz by FattLab, and world famous catering provided by Jack Tapp. Vines and Canines is about celebrating the two best things in life a good dog and a great bottle of wine. Tickets for the event are $60. per person or $100. per couple when purchased at Humane Society East location at 1000 Lyndon Ln.  The idea behind Vines and Canines came from its creator Marc De Michele who I quote via their website “The concept for Vine & Canines was developed from my personal love for my dog and for wine, as well as my desire to unite others who share these passions. This idea grew out of an evening of pulling corks with a dear friend along with our dogs and the realization that our experience was enriched by our four-legged pals. I not only want to provide a unique line of products for lovers of dogs and wine, but also create events where people with similar interests could meet and celebrate this affinity we all share.” Definitely an event you do not want to miss whether you are a dog lover or a lover of fine wine.

Halloween Is Just Around The Corner

We all know that Halloween is right around the corner, and with this spooky holiday approaching we all need to add some fright to our lives.  Louisville has some great Halloween events coming up.

Caulfield’s Halloween Parade: Louisville’s only Frightening Fun Parade is taking place on October 8, at 7P.M. More than 72 units will march down Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue to the end of Lexington Road. Jessica Lee of Clear Channel's Gen X Radio will host the parade and serve as announcer. A spooky parade not your forte how about a fantastic musical. Just in time for Halloween, Renegade Arts Productions brings the macabre musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” to the stage at the Alley Theater. The show runs from October 8th through October 17th. Alley Theater is located in Butchertown on East Washington St.. One of my personal favorite Halloween events in Louisville is the world famous Waverly Hills Sanatorium once a TB hospital back in 1910 it has now been restored and serves as a real haunted hospital. It has even been featured on The Travel Channel and rumor has that it has been used in various films as a back drop. It’s most recent television event Ghost Adventures at Waverly will air this Friday, October 8 on The Travel Channel! Every year they host a haunted house that goes from September 24th until Halloween night. Waverly Hills is located in South Louisville right off of East Pages Lane. If you are brave enough Waverly also host 2 Hour Paranormal and Historical Guided Tours, and Half Night and Full Night Paranormal Investigations/ Ghost Hunts. Not for the faint at heart years ago before Waverly Hills was restored I spent the afternoon there with some friends before I got there I did not believe in ghost after that afternoon I believe! So go have your self a spooky Halloween Adventure in Louisville.

Saint James Art Show and The Concour d'Elegance

This weekend in Louisville is very exciting the 54th annual St. James Court Art Show is back for another showcase of over 750 artists from North America. Held the first weekend in October, and in the very heart of historic Old Louisville among the country's largest collection of Victorian homes.  The Saint James art festival is always a great place to spend the weekend rather you are shopping for that perfect new painting to be the center piece of your dining room, or a glass sculpture for that perfect conversational piece. The Saint James art fair has something for everyone and is sure never to disappoint.

Also, happening in fantastic Louisville this weekend is The Louisville Concours d’Elegance a showcase of some of the worlds most rare and amazing cars. This event will be held at the world famous Churchill Downs from Oct. 1-3. Some of the most well-known car collectors such as Jay Leno travel to Louisville to have their cars judged by some of the world’s best judges and a chance to win the coveted “Best in Show” crystal trophy and the opportunity to have their car photographed at Historic Churchill Downs famed Winners Circle. The Louisville Concours d’Elegance is holding a Jay Leno raffle and the prize is a private tour for two of Jay Leno’s Big Dog Garage, two tickets to the Tonight Show, and 1500.00 to use towards expenses.
