Here in Louisville, Derby isn't just a one day event. Derby is a month long celebration in Louisville, Ky. To prepare to celebrate this grand event, make sure you know two things:  which horses are running in the Derby and how to make a Kentucky Mint Julep!

It’s time to pick your winner for the 139th Kentucky Derby!

So which horses are racing in the 2013 Derby? Check out the table to the right to view this year's horses. So how do YOU select your horse? Name? Best Odds? Jockey? Any method is a good one!

Now that you've chosen your horse, its time to enjoy a tasty mint julep!

Kentucky Derby Mint JulepMint Julep Ingredients:

Mint leaves
2 tablespoons Mint Syrup
Crushed ice
2 tablespoons water
2 ounces Kentucky bourbon

Preparation:

Crush a few mint leaves in the bottom of an 8-ounce Mint Julep Cup until mixture forms a paste. Then fill the Mint Julep Cup 1/2 full with crushed or shaved ice. Add ready Mint Syrup, water, and bourbon. Stir until the silver cup is frosted on the outside. If you are choosing to use a glass cup, note that it will not frost on the outside. To serve, accompany with a fresh piece of mint.
