The Cresent Hill Neighborhood
The Crescent Hill Neighborhood is 4 miles east of downtown Louisville. The boundaries are from North Ewing Avenue to Cannons Lane to Brownsboro Road to Lexington Road. The area was first developed in the 1850’s when the Louisville and Frankfort railroad were built in the area. The area received 20,000 guests in 1857 when a 38 acre fairground, in the area of St Josephs Orphanage, was used to host an Agricultural and Technology Fair.
The Crescent Hill Community Council was incorporated in the early 1970’s. In the early 1980’s the council purchased the Peterson Dumesnil House from the Jefferson County Board of Education. The house sits on 301 South Peterson Louisville Kentucky. The council is still very active today. Crescent Hills activities are always available on their website, http://www.crescenthill.us/. For example, this summer, they offer an “Annual Crescent Hill Outdoor Cinema Series”. The series shows a movie outdoors on the grounds of the Peterson-Dumesnill House every month during the summer.
Crescent Hill is a wonder place to live. Frankfort Avenue is teaming with restaurants, art galleries and many other wonderful places to see. Frankfort Avenue’s “F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop” occurs the final Friday of every month. The trolley goes down Frankfort Avenue and stops at all the points of interest.
